I am new to blogging, but this it could be a great forum to talk about chamber music in general, and what people think about chamber music in Charleston!
I stopped by the shops of the Charleston Historic Foundation today and I started chatting with the nice lady who was working the cash register. I told her a little bit about Chamber Music Charleston, specifically our incredibly House Concerts, and she asked how she could learn about those concerts.
Well, there is the problem!
We tend to sell out our House Concerts, and therefore we do not publicize them. So, while we would like be able to spread the word about Chamber Music Charleston, we rarely get the chance to share these House Concert experiences with newcomers.
That said, if someone knows about the concerts and happen to call the week of - there is a good chance one or two seats may open up.
I'd love to hear what other have to say about chamber music!

- I am the director and founder of Chamber Music Charleston. My whole life has been about music - from playing clarinet in my middle school band in New England to studying bassoon at the Juilliard School of Music and the Paris Conservatory. I followed my husband, cellist Timothy O'Malley, to Charleston (SC) and discovered a city with a great love of the arts (performing and visual), warm hospitality, a good number of Northerners so that I would feel out of place and an amazing climate. While living in Charleston I found my true passion lies in chamber music and creating chamber music concerts. I have directed Chamber Music Charleston for a couple of years, and it just keeps getting better and better. I love hearing my colleagues play great music and seeing the audience fall in love with the whole chamber music process. I look forward to continuing to bring great music to Charleston.

I would love to attend a family concert in the area. Do you have a Facebook Group set up for you guys? That would be great.
My husband and I live in Charleston with our 4 small children. He plays guitar for a living, and I play the trumpet in our church orchestra. I hope to master the basics of cello in 2009. I found this blog from a link off the chamber music's site. Nice to "meet" you!
